One of my best friends since, well when we were babies, had her first little love this summer. A sweet baby boy. I was excited to buy him my new go-to gift (thanks to another long-time bestie of mine). The tiny seersucker backpack from She la la. I love how perfectly they fit my kids on the way to pre-school and we let Annie pack them with just the right amount of toys for our trip to the Cape this summer. They come in all different colors and can be monogrammed as well. While the backpack is still a favorite in my gift rotation (along with anything Baby Gap or those sweet Ralph Lauren onesies) a few more ideas have caught my attention recently.
The Perfect Keepsake
Artifact Uprising Baby Board Book A gift card to Artifact Uprising to customize baby’s first board book with pictures of loved ones, first memories, and first words – or baby’s first year and numbers!
The Gift That Keeps on Giving
Cuddle + Kind “Ethically produced hand knit dolls that help feed children”. These are pricey for stuffed animals, but the quality is impeccable and they are as cute as the pictures in the website. My mom bought Annie & Ryan the penguins for Christmas. Plus, your purchase funds a worthy cause. One doll helps provide ten meals to children.
Gifts to Grow With
Lovevery Play Kits A gift card to Lovevery for the play kit subscription for ages 0 to 24 months. This could be a good group gift. I always had a hard time deciding what toys to buy for what age. I tended to buy toys they’d grow into, but I swear some are still unused from Christmas. This subscription service takes all the guess work out of what’s developmentally appropriate and includes a guide book for parents. “Playtime with purpose” is the founders’ goal.
Gathre Mats “Soft as a blanket, easier than a beach towel“. Gathre’s faux leather mat for indoor and outdoor play is durable, easy to clean, and carry. The beautifully designed mats come in neutral colors and patterns. For the kids, I especially like the road and world maps that come in floor and table mat sizes as kids can use them to learn and play.
No frills, never fails gift. You can’t go wrong with diapers, rash cream, and/or a little cash for the college fund. These kids are expensive! But worth every penny.
